About TAFIA

The Origins of TAFIA begin in the early 17th Century with the introduction of Breadfruit (Artocarpus Altilis) to the island of Haiti.
Being one of the most productive and versatile fruits known to man, Breadfruit played an integral part in the survival of the slave population of Haiti, providing them with the necessary nutrition that they needed to stay alive and endure.
The versatility of the tree combined with African know how and ingenuity made it an integral part of the life of the African inhabitants of the island. The tree did more than nourish the bodies of those who consumed it, it also fed their souls and became known as L’arbre Veritable or “the True Tree”.
